{NoLa Find}: Swan River Yoga

By in Fitness, Life, New Orleans, Tone It Up, Weight Loss, Yoga

Saturday, when confirming our Foodies&Booties blog meeting Sunday, Gia mentioned she was going to yoga after and invited me to join in. She had recently discovered Swan River Yoga and was raving about it. I decided to join!

… and I totally get why she loves it so much.

I fell in love the second I walked up.

How welcoming does this studio look? Love.

We were a few seconds late due to rainy, construction, NoLa style traffic, but they were so nice about it. We walked in on the first floor, and the studio is on the second floor.

My breathe was taken away when I saw it.

So opening, so welcoming.

… and then that moment when I took my first downward dog in probably two months. Swoon.

The class itself was amazing. I looked on their website and the style was “Jivamukti Open”. I loved it! Every movement was synchronized with breath and intention … to welcome and expect change in whatever form it may come. So beautiful!

I also loved how the teacher went around helping you to get deeper in your poses, and then went back to help you do the same on your other side, so that you felt even. Now that’s quality!

Class was just amazing, and if you live in New Orleans, I recommend you check this place out! I’m for sure getting the New Client special.

Added bonus? I was checking out the classes and teachers and realized two things. 1) My favorite yoga teacher EVER teaches here!! She left a studio I went to back in law school and I had no idea where she went, until now! And 2) they teach my personal favorite style of yoga – Anusara, which was introduced to me by my favorite yoga teacher.

Are you open to checking out new yoga studios?

What is your favorite style of yoga?

Xoxo.

  1. Ohh this is a good reminder that I need to get back into yoga! It has been FAR too long! I love that you had that intention during your practice too- that sounds so neat! The downward dogs however… not so much! I dread that pose!

What an awesome looking studio! Next time I’m down there I will have to convince my bf to get me there somehow.
