So, yea … I had two dates last night!!

One with my yoga mat and another with my foam roller ;)
As part of my half marathon training group “package”, Life {a yoga studio I frequent here in New Orleans} is offering a yoga for runners class. For the last half {Rock n’ Roll/Mardi Gras}, Life offered a workshop the weekend before the race, taught by the same instructor. I loved the workshop! Lauren spent her time and worked us through different poses to help stretch those runner areas – the IT bands, hips, calves, etc.
The only thing I still wanted after the workshop was for it to become a regular class.

Looks like this girl got what she wanted!
Last night Blakely and I attended the class. About 3 minutes into the class, Lauren said she’d be focusing on our IT bands. At that moment, I was caught with a huge grin on my face.
We worked the IT bands, hips and core. Ah-mazing.
I’m a firm believer that yoga compliments running and helps prevent injury. This class was everything I wanted, and more. Can’t wait to go back next week!
After class, I went home and spent a bit more time rolling out my hips, IT bands and shins. While it hurt, bad, I know I feel a huge difference after I foam roll. Maybe the correct way to say it is it hurts so good??
Do you do anything to compliment running?
Are you a fan of foam rolling?
Xoxo.

Confession: I’ve never used a foam roller before and I am so intimidated by them! I see people using them to stretch, and I don’t get it. I just flat-out don’t get it. So hats off to you, for figuring out this big foamy mystery!
I have a foam roller and generally know how to use it, but I never know how long to “roll”. after about 3 minutes-I’m done! you should do a post about it!
Great idea! I think I will!
