First Track Workout.

By in Fitness

Last night was my first track workout for my half-marathon running group.

We were told to warm-up however much we wanted. For some strange reason, I went with the 2 mile group. Well, not a strange reason. I was having a bit of a rough day and really needed a run.

For our track workout, we were running 6×400.

I had no clue how far 400 was, until once of the coaches said it was a lap around the track. I looked around and thought to myself, “what the hell did I get myself in to??”

I had just run 2 miles and then I had to follow it up with 6 400 meter runs … fml.

It wasn’t easy. In fact, it was HARD. I pretty much wanted to puke after every lap. And I wanted to quit. The only reason I didn’t is because I’m competitive and no one else quit. That, and I know these workouts will make me faster AND I will feel amazing once the run is over and I start to cool down.

Dear Track Workouts,

I can’t stand you. You are miserable.

Let’s just say you’re lucky you will improve my speed.

And your lucky I feel like a million bucks when I’m done with you and that puking feeling.

So I guess I’ll be seeing you next Tuesday.

Xoxo,

  1. Fantastic job getting through this Liz, especially after the 2-mile warm up, woah lady! Track workouts are really tough… we used to do them all of the time in cross country and 400 repeats were actually my least favorite because they were tough! Each one will get easier though, mentally that is, physically they always challenge you but then they pay off!
