Last week, Cait posted a pretty touching post that hit home.
There is too much negativity going on in my head right now, and it’s putting a damper on my fun. Not cool. This is not me.
I realize I don’t always verbalize the negativity, but that doesn’t mean those thoughts aren’t there. They have been there these last few months, and I want and need them gone.
I am amazing just the way I am … so why don’t I realize that? Why don’t I focus on the positive?
My focus clearly needs to change from what I’m not, or what I can’t do to what I am and how hard I will work to achieve what my heart desires.
To get my mind right, I decided to follow Cait’s lead, and list the reasons I am awesome. I’ve kept this list to 36, but I could have kept going and did so on my own personal list… apparently, the positive thoughts actually want to be in my head. Peace out negative thoughts.
Liz is awesome because:
- I have an amazing family who knows me and loves me.
- My friends are the best and would drop anything to be there for me.
- My friends know that I would drop anything to be there for them.
- Sydney is my pup … even though sometimes I tend to offer her for sale.
- I live alone and absolutely love it, and the freedom that comes with it.
- I can bake, and sometimes the goods don’t even make it out my house.
- I’m creative in so many aspects of life: art, music, work, style, shoes, clothing, jewelry, hair, books, writing, etc.
- I have three degrees that I actually use every day at work.
- I have a full-time job that I absolutely love.
- I have the best bosses.
- I am close with all of my co-workers and love them to death.
- I am smart.
- I 100% support myself.
- I’m a super fast reader.
- I’ve become a faster runner, and well, I’ve become a runner period.
- I love to lift weights and have become so strong because of it.
- I have pretty awesome style.
- I’m loyal.
- I’m tenacious and proud of it.
- I love to dance and, well, can dance.
- I’m pretty.
- I’m in better shape than most people I know. Seriously.
- I have a fun blog that I love writing and is becoming more successful by the day.
- I’m spunky.
- Despite my three degrees, I’m studying to become a personal trainer.
- I’ve defeated both anxiety and depression.
- I’m outdoor-sy in that I like getting drunk on patios. Haha. Actually I love doing anything outside, including getting drunk on patios.
- I love rap when I’m in a bad mood, had a rough day at work, am gearing up for a night out and/or am going on a long run.
- I love jager bombs, minus the bomb {yes, that’s how I order them!}, AND can handle them. Well, maybe just a few.
- I’ve completed a half marathon and ran the entire time, except when I went to the ladies room, of course.
- I make friends everywhere I go.
- I love to learn {could be why I’m going for that personal trainer certification}.
- I’m great at public speaking.
- I love the city I live in and take advantage of what it has to offer. Next up: White Linen Night and Red Dress Run!
- I’m determined to marry at least one of my celebrity crushes.
- I’m a huge LSU fan, and so proud of it!

One of your best posts EVER.. I agree with all of your positive points plus about 2342342323498234987239472 more! :)
Love you! and you, my best friend have a million times more than I do :)
WOOTWOOT! You go girl! But you did forget the one about you having a handsome son-in-law (Popcorn)
Bahahaha. How could I forget?!?
p.s. your package is on it’s way!
We totally need to meet for realz. That outdoorsy thing is my FB cover!
Haha! Yes! Yes we do!
AWESOME list! I think you should write one of these reasons up on your bathroom mirror each week so that it is a constant reminder to not beat yourself up at all!
SUCH a good idea!!!! Love this and must do it!
I love this post :)
You are awesome :)
Thank you!!
And you are too!
#30 is certainly impressive!!! You rock, girl. And if you accomplish #35, I’ll be even more impressed, hahaha.
Drinking on patios is REALLY great. Drinking outside in general is way better than doing so indoors.
I’m so honored to have inspired you to write this wonderful list. Isn’t it cool to see how you can just keep going and going with the positives? I felt the same way! That helps you step back and say damnnnn, I’m awesome.
Thanks for making a list and joining the fun <3
Thank you for sharing your list in the first place!!
And yes … #35 WILL be accomplished. Don’t worry your little heart ;)
I love your city, too, and can’t wait for Red Dress Run!!!!
Wow. That is some seriously good advise…We all have those difficult times. Things in my life have been kind of crazy recently too, but realizing the wonderful things that I do have make me realize how lucky I am.
Oh…and for #4…It is amazing how big of an impact our dogs can have on us. I am so lucky to have Dozer, who is always there for me (whether to go for a walk after a long day…or just to clean up the mess I make after cooking dinner)
Great post.
ahh!! such a great post! That list could go on and on best friend! Love you to pieces!!!
What a fantastic post- it’s so important to remember all of the good things that we’ve got going on, rather then be extra critical of ourselves. You are an amazing person and this list shows that!
